Suit: Drywall worker suffered injuries when apartment floor collapsed

HOUSTON — A worker alleges he suffered severe injuries when the apartment floor of an upstairs unit where he was doing drywall and painting suddenly collasped. 

Jose Mendez filed a complaint  June 30 in Harris County District Court against Redwood Gardens Apartments LTD and 910 Redwood LLC alleging negligence and liability. 

Mendez, according to his complaint, was working on the second floor of the Redwood Gardens Apartments in Harris County on Nov. 1, 2020. He claims he was working on drywall and painting when the apartment unit floor suddenly collapsed and caused him to suffer severe injuries. 

Mendez alleges the defendants created the dangerous condition which they failed to discover in a reasonable time and that they failed to properly maintain and inspect the premises. He also alleges the defendants did not take any action to correct or prevent the hazard. Mendez claims as a result of the accident, he also suffered physical impairment, lost earnings and incurred medical treatment expenses.  

Mendez seeks monetary relief between $250,000 and $1 million, interest and all other just relief. He is represented by George Farah and Coren Majors of The Farah Law Group PLLC in Houston.
