Construction worker claims pipes left on ground caused his fall, sues for $1M

Lawsuits

HOUSTON — A construction worker who slipped on pipes that were left on the ground and suffered serious injuries is claiming negligence.

Yovanni Clemente filed a complaint July 21 in Harris County District Court against Spaw Glass Construction Corporation alleging negligence.

Clemente, according to his suit, was installing wallboard for the defendant at a worksite on Dallas Parkway in Plano on May 27, 2022. He claims as he was carrying a sheet of wallboard, he was unable to see pipes that were left on the ground which caused him to fall backwards with the wallboard landing on top of him as he fell.

Clemente alleges as a result of the fall, he suffered physical impairment, disfigurement, lost wages and incurred medical treatment expenses. He claims Spaw Glass Construction's negligence for failing to have a safe work environment, for not having proper supervision and for failing to perform routine maintenance and safety inspections.

Clemente seeks monetary relief between $250,000 and $1 million, interest, trial by jury and other just relief. He is represented by Attorney Michael Brennan of Daspit Law in Houston.
