Contract worker at HCA Houston alleges hospital employee caused her injuries

HOUSTON — A neuromonitor working at HCA Houston Healthcare North Cypress alleges a hospital employee's negligence caused her serious injuries. 

Joan Norris filed a complaint July 21 in Harris County District Court against KPH-Consolidation Inc., doing business as HCA Houston Healthcare North Cypress alleging negligence. 

According to her complaint, Norris was employed by Sentry Neuro/PHS Holdings LLC as a neuromonitor and was assisting in a surgery performed by Matthew Cubbage, MD at HCA Houston Healthcare North Cypress on June 22, 2020. She claims that as she was gathering needles used during the procedure with her back to the door of the room, an HCA Houston Healthcare employees suddenly came into the room and struck her from behind. 

Norris alleges she fell onto her hand and suffered severe and painful injuries that required surgery to implant "internal fixation devices" on her upper extremity. She claims the defendant's negligence for the conduct of their employee and that she also suffered disfigurement, lost wages and incurred "thousands of dollars" in medical, hospital and nursing expenses. 

Norris seeks monetary relief, interest and all other just relief. She is represented by Kevin Krist of The Law Office of Kevin Krist in Houston.
