Construction alleges negligence after steel frame falls on him, causes injuries

HOUSTON — A construction worker who was injured after a steel frame landed on him is claiming his employer's negligence. 

Claudio Umanzor filed a complaint Aug. 6 in Harris County District Court against Black Bison Construction LLC alleging negligence.

According to his complaint, Umanzor was working for Black Bison, a Workers' Compensation non subscriber at a job site on Aug. 6, 2020. He claims that a steel frame fell on him and caused him to suffer injuries. Umanzor claims Bison was negligent for failing to maintain proper procedures, failing to coordinate the interaction of the various trades at the site, did not maintain a safe work place or recognize the hazards. 

He also alleges Bison was negligent its hiring and supervision of its employees and that his injuries were caused by the negligence of Bison's employees, agents, drivers, officers and representatives. Umanzor further alleges as a result of the accident he suffered pain, mental anguish, impairment, disfigurement and incurred medical treatment costs. 

Umanzor seeks monetary relief of more than $1 million, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. He is represented by Moises Morales, III of The Morales Law Firm in Houston.
