Bowman and Brooke hires 10 for Austin office

AUSTIN — Bowman and Brooke LLP has responded to high client demand by hiring six lawyers, including two first chair trial attorneys and four additional attorneys, as well as four legal professionals, a press release states. 

The growth reflects the firm’s commitment to meeting the acute demands of a thriving national product liability defense practice while strengthening its litigation bench and trial capabilities within its Life Sciences practice group, the press release states.

“Courts are back in session following pandemic-related slowdowns and shutdowns—and everyone is trying to get their cases to trial,” Austin Managing Partner Randall L. Christian said. “Our corporate clients depend on firms like Bowman and Brooke to provide experienced trial lawyers in defense of their matters all over the country. We are excited to have attracted trial lawyers like Katherine Bell-Moss and Angela Angotti to our team.”

Katherine E. Bell-Moss, Partner, brings almost 30 years of litigation and appeals experience including an extensive trial resume almost exclusively in product liability and health care defense to the firm. She has represented pharmaceutical companies in individual and mass tort cases as well as health care providers and hospitals in medical malpractice and regulatory matters.

Angela L. Angotti, Partner, has nearly 15 years of experience in complex civil litigation including defense of product liability and personal injury litigation. She has extensive lead trial experience, trying dozens of cases to verdict in state and federal courts. Angela is primarily focused on defending the firm’s medical device, pharmaceutical and health care clients in complex product liability litigation.

Daniel J. Corley, Associate, supports the defense of the firm’s medical device and pharmaceutical manufacturers in complex product liability litigation in state and federal courts as well as in nationwide mass torts and multidistrict litigation. Prior to joining the firm, he worked at two civil litigation firms where he gained experience managing high-volume case loads and served as second or third chair in dozens of state and federal cases.

Also joining the firm this year, as previously announced, are Patrick L. DeLaune, Melissa K. Ferrell, and Garrett M. Greene.

Patrick L. DeLaune, Of Counsel, previously with the firm from 2011-2014, returns to Bowman and Brooke and will continue to assist clients in product liability litigation. He has thorough experience with appellate briefs, interlocutory appeals, mandamus pleadings, Daubert, pre-trial and post-verdict motions, trial pleadings, and depositions of opposing fact and expert witnesses.

Melissa K. Ferrell, Senior Counsel, brings over 25 years of experience representing clients in product liability matters. She has held roles as regional and national counsel for international product manufacturers and has extensive experience in mass tort and asbestos litigation. Melissa works closely with doctors and other experts to develop aggressive defense strategies.

Garrett M. Greene, Associate, represents medical device, pharmaceutical, and product manufacturers in complex product liability litigation. He has considerable experience in both written and oral advocacy and writing legal briefs. Garrett joins Bowman and Brooke from the Texas Office of the Attorney General, Criminal Appeals Division, where he worked as Assistant Attorney General.

Additional hires in the Austin office during 2022 are Pamela Webster, Legal Nurse Consultant; Mary Costello and Megan Becker, Paralegals; as well as Tess Starbuck, Sr. Legal Administrative Assistant.
