HOUSTON — A hotel guest alleges a steel piece protruding from the carpet in his room caused his fall and serious injuries.

Jack Tillet filed a complaint  Sept. 7 in Harris County District Court against Intown Suites Highway 290 LP and others alleging premises liability.

Tillet, according to his complaint, was at the defendant's hotel on Northwest Freeway in Houston on Oct. 9, 2020. He claims that his room had a "steel transition piece where the carpet meets the tile" that was protruding from the floor. Tillet further claims he requested the defect be fixed several times  during his stay and that as a result of the defect, he slipped and fell.

He alleges that the defendants had knowledge of the dangerous condition and breached their duty of ordinary care by not warning him of the hazard. Tillet claims as a result of his fall, he suffered pain, mental anguish, impairment, disfigurement and incurred medical expenses.

Tillet seeks monetary relief, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. He is represented by Lex Allgaier of White & Harrison Trial Attorneys in Houston.
