GALVESTON — A man alleges his leg fell through a deteriorated crate in a walking area at a bar in Galveston.
Thaddeus Williams filed a complaint Sept. 8 in Galveston County District Court against Maliki Liki Enterprises LLC, Kwik Bar on Broadway and The Stanley Group Inc., alleging negligence and other claims.
Williams, according to his complaint, was at the defendants' property on Broadway Avenue J in Galveston on March 17, 2021. He claims as he was walking on the premises, his leg went through a deteriorated crate and suffered injuries to his ankle, knee and back.
Williams alleges the defendants' negligence for failing to allowing the dangerous condition to exist on its premises, failing to warn of the hazard, failing to maintain its premises and for not barricading the area. He also alleges the defendants were negligent for failing to repair the deteriorating crate, failing to properly train and supervise its employees or inspect the premises.
Williams claims the defendants were also negligent for allowing an unsafe walking condition and that his injuries caused him to suffer mental anguish, impairment, disfigurement and lost wages. He also claims his injuries caused him to incur medical expenses.
Williams seeks monetary relief not to exceed $250,000, interest and all other just relief. He is represented by Carlos Hughes, Jr., of The Hughes Law Firm in Houston.
