GALVESTON — A woman alleges League City residents failed to restrain their large dog, which attacked her while she was walking by their residence.

Denice Jones filed a complaint Sept. 19 in Galveston District Court against Cynthia Lynn Dooley, Cindy Dooley, Somchai Dooley, Somchai Smith and Danny Lee Hemphill, Jr., alleging negligence.

Jones, according to her complaint, was walking her daughter's dog on Sept. 26, 2020. She claims that the defendants suddenly and without warning, opened the door to their residence in League City and allowed their "large dog" to run towards her. Jones alleges that the defendants' dog attacked her and caused her to suffer injuries.

She claims as a result of the dog attack, she suffered impairment, disfigurement, lost wages and incurred medical and pharmaceutical expenses. Jones alleges the defendants' negligence for failing to properly secure their property, failing to adequately control their dog and for keeping a dangerous dog on the premises. She further alleges the defendants failed to restrain the dog or warn of the hazard.

Jones seeks monetary relief of more than $75,000, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. She is represented by Sofia Bruera of the Bruera Law Firm PLLC in Houston.
