HOUSTON — A Land Rover owner alleges her new vehicle suffered various, unrepairable defects.
Tiffany Jackson filed a complaint Oct. 12 in Harris County District Court against Jaguar Land Rover North America LLC alleging breach of warranty, violation of the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act and Texas Deceptive Trade Practice-Consumer Protection Act.
Jackson, according to her complaint, leased a new 2021 Land Rover Discovery Sport on Sept. 22, 2021 which came with a factory warranty. She alleges that the Land Rover was defective "in materials and workmanship" included the vehicle screen going black, issues with the USB port, a washer fluid leak, and not being able to disengage the all-wheel drive.
Jackson also alleges the vehicle had battery defects, mirrors folding while driving and that the car would not start despite numerous repair attempts. She further alleges the defects were not able to be corrected by an authorized dealership and that it caused her car to be out of service for at least 85 days.
Jackson claims she has given the defendant "a reasonable" amount of time to reinstate the vehicle's warranties however they have "failed to do so in a reasonable time" which has caused her to incur repair costs.
Jackson seeks monetary relief of $250,000 or less, interest and all other just relief. She is represented by Adam Mott of The Law Offices of Jason S. Hegedus PLLC in Houston.
