HOUSTON — A patient alleges he suffered from brain injuries due to a radiologist's failure to properly interpret his CT scan.

Antonio Jaimez and Yazmin Herrera filed a complaint Oct. 11 in Harris County District Court against Hai Ngoc Nguyen, MD and Houston Northwest Radiology Association PA alleging negligence.

Jaimez, according to his complaint, went to SignatureCare Odessa Emergency Center on Oct. 11, 2020, due to a severe headache, nausea and vomiting. He alleges that his diagnostic imaging including a CT scan, was reported as normal by Nguyen and he was discharged that evening. Jaimez claims that on May 18, 2021, he was found unconscious by his family and taken to the hospital where a CT scan revealed a right parietal lobe hemorrhage and subdural hematoma which resulted in surgery.

He also claims he now suffers from neurologic deficits from the hemorrhage and that Nguyen failed to obtain his medical history prior to the interpretation of his radiological study. Jaimez also claims Nguyen failed to appropriately review and interpret his test results and failed to use ordinary care in the administration of health care. He further claims Houston Northwest's negligence for failing to properly train and supervise, educate and credential their staff.

Jaimez seeks monetary relief of more than $1 million, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. He is represented by Luke Metzler and Ben Trujillo of Van Wey, Metzler & Williams PLLC in Dallas.
