HOUSTON — A Houston apartment tenant alleges nothing was done about the mold exposure in her apartment which caused her and her premature baby health issues.

Tamara White filed a complaint Oct. 18 in Harris County District Court against Mosaic Veranda LP alleging negligence and premises liability.

White, according to her complaint, lived in the defendant's Veranda Apartments in Texas City. She claims that in November of 2021, she reached out to tell the defendant that she was having respiratory issues while she was pregnant and had concerns for mold exposure. She further claims that after her daughter was born prematurely, she again raised concerns about the mold and that the defendants deny the issue was ever brought to their attention despite the positive mold tests done in March of 2021.

White claims the defendant's negligence for failing to recognize and address the mold hazards as well as for failing to ensure proper insulation, inspection and maintenance of their apartment units. She also claims the defendants were negligent for failing to properly remediate the mold issue, failed to properly hire, train and supervise its employees and for not ensuring safety policies were followed. White alleges as a result of the defendant's negligence, she suffered pain, mental anguish, lost earning and incurred medical treatment expenses.

White seeks monetary relief between $250,000 and $1 million, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. She is represented by Andrew Dao of Daly & Black PC in Houston and Ash Tadghighi of The Tadghighi Law Group in Houston.
