HOUSTON — A man alleges a security guard at a Houston sports bar used excessive force.

Francisco Cavazos filed a complaint Nov. 8 in Harris County District Court against Ojos Locos Sports Cantina, Crazy Eyes Holdings LLC, OL Houston LLC, Dallas County Protection and Texas Patrol Services alleging premises liability and negligence.

According to his complaint, Cavazos was at the Ojos Locos Sports Cantina on Southwest Freeway in Houston on Dec. 16, 2020. He claims that he and his friends became involved in a disagreement with one of Ojos Locos' employees over return of change. Cavazos alleges that a uniformed security officer intervened and that the security officer pushed, hit and pepper sprayed him even when he was sitting in his vehicle with the door open.

He further alleges he suffered injuries to his knee and other parts of his body that required medical and therapeutic care. Cavazos claims Ojos Locos was negligent for hiring a security officer that did not speak English and who used excessive force. He also claims Ojos Locos failed to intervene to stop the security officer's actions or warn of the unreasonable risk of harm.

Cavazos seeks monetary relief of no more than $50,000, interest and all other just relief. He is represented by Pejman Maadani of Maadani Law in Houston.
