HOUSTON — A man who slipped and suffered permanent injuries while at The Methodist Hospital in Harris County is alleging negligence.
Hugo Reyes-Ortiz filed a complaint Jan. 2 in Harris County District Court against The Methodist Hospital, J.T. Vaughn Construction LLC and Southern Title and Terrazzo Company alleging negligence.
According to his complaint, the plaintiff was taking his wife, who was in a wheelchair, to an appointment at the defendants' premises on Oct. 20, 2021. He claims that while on the premises, he slipped and fell on a "slick substance" that was on the floor and suffered severe injuries.
The plaintiff alleges the defendants' negligence for failing to maintain the floors and walkways, failing to inspect the premises and for allowing the dangerous condition to exist on the premises. He also alleges the defendants failed to warn of the dangerous condition. The plaintiff claims as a result of his slip and fall, he suffered pain, impairment, disfigurement, lost earnings and incurred medical expenses.
The plaintiff seeks monetary relief between $250,000 and $1 million, interest and all other just relief. He is represented by Nathan Surprise of The Daspit Law Firm in Houston.
