GALVESTON — A homeowner alleges she has been forced to pay off financing for solar panels that were never installed.

Maria Trevino filed a complaint Jan. 24 in Galveston County District Court against Greensky LLC alleging fraud, negligent misrepresentation and violation of the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act.

Trevino alleges in her complaint that on May 23, 2018, a sales representative from a solar panel company came to her home in Texas City. She further claims she signed a contract for the installation of the panels and that the sales representative signed her up for immediate financing of $20,000 through Greensky. Trevino, who speaks primarily Spanish, claims she was given no chance to read or understand the contract or given any written information. She alleges she was verbally told she could cancel the contract within 30 days. Trevino claims that the solar panels were never installed on her home and that the salesperson obtained her personal information and applied for financing without her consent.

She also claims she tried to cancel the financing, was told it was too late and that she needed to make monthly payments or her credit would be destroyed. Trevino alleges she has been making monthly payments for more than three years without ever getting the solar panels.

Trevino seeks monetary relief of $250,000 or less, interest and all other just relief. She is represented by Attorney Anis Damani in Houston.
