GALVESTON — A Fort Bend man is alleging he is owned $600,000 of an unpaid promissory note.
Brian Smith filed a complaint Jan. 23 in Galveston County District Court against Matthew Hoeg.
According to Smith's complaint, Hoeg executed a promissory note for $600,000 payable to Smith in March of 2018. He claims Hoeg was obligated to pay entire unpaid principal of the note in full upon selling his interest in CRS Solutions Holdings.
Smith further claims that if Hoeg's interest in CRS was not sold before March 15, 2023, he was obligated to pay him the entire unpaid amount of the note in 12 installments of $50,000 beginning on March 25, 2023. Smith alleges that in June of 2022, Hoeg sold his interest in CRS and that Hoeg has failed to pay him the unpaid principal balance. He claims as the legal owner of the note, he is entitled to collect damages including the unpaid balance and any attorney's fees.
Smith seeks monetary relief between $250,000 and $1 million, interest and all other just relief. He is represented by James Salyer and Allan Goldstein of Morris, Lendais, Hollrah & Snowden in Houston.
