GALVESTON — A man claims he tripped over a cable junction box installed on the aisle of a grocery store in League City.
William Stapp, Jr., filed a complaint Feb. 15 in Galveston County District Court against Randall's Food & Drugs LP, Randall's Food Market Inc., Safeway Inc., Albertson's LLC and others alleging negligence and premises liability.
Stapp alleges in his complaint that he was at the defendant's store on Marina Bay Drive in League City on June 24, 2021. He claims he tripped and fell on an electrical cable junction box that was installed on the aisle and suffered severe physical and mental pain. Stapp alleges the defendants' negligence for failing to warn or blockade the aisle and for its failure to design the aisle for safety.
He further alleges the defendants were negligent for compromising the walking surface of the aisleway with a tripping hazard and failed to properly maintain the premises. Stapp claims the defendants also negligently failed to supervise, monitor and instruct its employees and alleges they created distractions and/or visual diversions to the aisle and endcaps in the store. He further claims he suffered impairment and incurred medical expenses as a result of his fall.
Stapp seeks monetary relief, interest and all other just relief. He is represented by Lawrence Tylka of The Tylka Law Center PC in League City.
