HOUSTON — A woman who tripped over a defective threshold on the floor of an elevator and suffered injuries is claiming negligence.

Erma Marshall filed a complaint March 18 in Harris County District Court against Houston Housing Management Corporation and Houston SRO Housing Corporation alleging negligence.

According to Marshall's complaint, she was working as a patient care provider at The De George Union Station in Houston on April 30, 2021. She claims she was seriously injured when an elevator that was not properly working, stopped below the threshold of the floor and caused her to trip and fall as she was exiting.

Marshall alleges the defendants' negligence for failing to provide a reasonably safe environment and for not fixing the elevator defect or warning of the dangerous condition. She claims as a result of her fall, she suffered physical pain, impairment, disfigurement, lost earnings and incurred medical expenses.

Marshall seeks monetary relief, interest and all other just relief. She is represented by Ty Gibson and Brett Hill of Gibson Hill PC in Houston.
