Navigation patent suits brought against Google and four others

Federal Court
Gavel3

WACO - On Thursday, five lawsuits alleging infringement of two navigation patents were brought against Google and four other companies.

All patent five lawsuits were brought by MDSP Technologies, a Delaware corporation, and filed in the U.S. District Court for Western Texas, Waco Division.

The other defendants in the lawsuits include Apple, Garmin, Samsung and TomTom.

The lawsuits allege infringement of the following two patents:

- On Jan. 19, 2016, U.S. patent No. 9,239,376 (the ’376pPatent), entitled “Doppler aided inertial navigation” was duly and legally issued by the USPTO; and

- On Aug. 6, 2019, U.S. patent No. 10,371,806 (the ’806 Patent), entitled “Doppler aided inertial navigation” was duly and legally issued by the USPTO.

“Defendant has committed acts of infringing the patents-in-suit within this District and the State of Texas by making, using, selling, offering for sale, and/or importing in or into this District and elsewhere in the State of Texas, products claimed by the patents-in-suit, including without limitation products made by practicing the claimed methods of the patents-in-suit,” the suits state.

MDSP believes the defendants have made no attempts to design around the patents.

It seeks a judgment and order awarding a compulsory ongoing royalty.

The plaintiff is represented by Warren Rhoades, an Arlington law firm.
