HOUSTON — A man alleges he fell into a sink hole where an energy company was working on a gas line and suffered injuries.
Latoia Allen filed a complaint April 17 in Harris County District Court against Centerpoint Energy Inc., and R.D. Crumley & Company alleging premises liability.
Allen alleges in his complaint that he was walking across the yard on West Village in Houston on April 30, 2021, where the defendants had been working on a gas line. He claims he stepped into a sink hole that completely engulfed his leg and required assistance and tools in order to be removed from the hole.
Allen claims the defendants failed to reduce or eliminate the unreasonable risk of harm and failed to adequately warn of the hazard. He further claims that as a result of his accident, he incurred medical expenses, suffered pain, impairment, mental anguish and lost earnings.
Allen alleges the defendants knew of the risk but "proceeded with a conscious indifference to the rights, safety or welfare of others."
Allen seeks monetary relief, interest and all other just relief. He is represented by Dominick Garza of Godsey Martin PC in Houston.
