GALVESTON — A woman alleges a defective sauna bench at a fitness center in League City caused her serious injuries.

Eva Cooper filed a complaint April 19 in Galveston County Circuit Court against Roman Empire Fitness Center alleging premises liability and negligence.

Cooper, according to her complaint, was at Roman Empire Fitness Center on Spruce Street in League City on Jan. 11, 2023. She claims she was sitting on a bench in the sauna area when the bench became unhinged from the wall and caused her to fall.

Cooper claims as a result of her fall, she suffered injuries to her head, shoulders, back, arms and legs. She alleges Roman Empire failed to warn of the dangerous condition, failed to inspect its premises and failed to properly warn of the hazard.

She also alleges the defendant failed to properly train its employees and enforce proper polices to make the premises safe. Cooper claims Roman Empire also failed to fix, repair or replace the sauna bench in a reasonable and timely manner which caused her to suffer pain, impairment, disfigurement and to incur hospital, doctor and pharmaceutical bills.

Cooper seeks monetary relief, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. She is represented by Jeff Badders and Mari Badders of The Badders Law Firm PC in Houston.
