BEAUMONT – The Ferguson Law Firm has filed a petition seeking pre-suit discovery regarding the April 8 explosion and fire at the AmSpec facility located on Jerry Ware Drive in Beaumont, a press release states.
Three individuals were burned in that incident. The law firm’s managing partner, Paul ‘Chip’ Ferguson, filed the petition on April 24 in Jefferson County District Court.
The petition was filed in the name of one of the victims, Cayde Cooksey. Ferguson said his firm represents two of the victims, Cooksey and Kayne Bellot. Both men were transported by air ambulance of Houston for treatment of their burns. Cooksey spent three weeks in the burn unit at Memorial Hermann Hospital while Bellot was treated there and at UTMB in Galveston. A third injured person is represented by counsel from Houston.
“The purpose of this petition is to allow us to determine what happened and why, and then identify those responsible for this tragic occurrence,” Ferguson added.
Ferguson did add one request on behalf of his clients. “Both of these young men have been through an awful lot. We know that members of the media have been reaching out to them and their families; however, they have asked me to request some space for the time being. They want some time to heal and understand what has happened to them. This was not just a physical injury but an emotional one as well. Once they feel able to speak out, we will make them available.”
Both men are now recuperating at home and through outpatient treatment.
The Ferguson Law Firm, LLP maintains two offices: its primary location in Beaumont, Texas and another in Orange, Texas. It continues its mission of obtaining the best results for every client, every time, the press release states.
