Wrongful death suit alleges woman was hit by vehicles while walking home, Ferguson Law Firm handling case

BEAUMONT - A wrongful death lawsuit has been brought against two individuals who allegedly struck a woman with their vehicles while she was walking home. 

Albert Jones Jr. filed suit against Richard Davison and Payton Lafleur on May 9 in Jefferson County District Court. 

According to the complaint, on March 30 Niki Smith, a 52-year-old mother, was walking home from Arbor Pines Apartments after visiting a friend when she was struck by the defendants in the 600 Block of MLK. 

“First, Defendant Payton Lafleur hit Niki Smith in his 2018 FORD F150,” the suit states. “After being struck by the Ford F150, Niki Smith was struck again by Defendant Richard Davison in his 2001 Chevrolet Silverado.”

The suit is accusing the defendants of negligence and gross negligence. 

The plaintiff is seeking wrongful death damages.
