HOUSTON — A man alleges his vehicle's front tire came off while driving after being serviced at an auto repair shop.
Darby Daniels filed a complaint May 22 in Harris County District Court against Universal Transmission Complete Auto Repair LLC alleging negligence and other claims.
According to Daniels' complaint, Universal picked up his 2010 Ford Fusion from his home on May 3, 2022, to be taken in for repair. He claims that the next day, he noticed a lug nut missing from three of the vehicle's wheels, including on the driver's side front wheel and that the check engine light was on. Daniels alleges that after returning the car to Universal, he was told to come back with the car a few days later, however while driving home, the driver's side front wheel came off and caused the car to drop to the ground and causing him to suffer injuries.
He claims Universal's negligence for failing to properly secure the wheel and for not replacing the lug nuts before returning the car. Daniels further claims Universal was negligent for failing to determine if the car was safe to operate and for not properly repairing his car.
Daniels seeks monetary relief, interest and all other just relief. He is represented by Daragh Carter of Smith & Hassler in Houston.
