HOUSTON — A former Quarries Direct International employee alleges he faced racial slurs and retaliation because he is African American.

Little Bartholomew filed a complaint May 22 in Harris County District Court against Quarries Direct International LLC doing business as QDI Surfaces alleging race discrimination and retaliation.

According to his complaint, Bartholomew, an African American, worked for QDI from November 2021 through November 2022. He claims that he suffered racial discrimination perpetrated by his supervisor, including racial slurs. He further claims he reported the issue to QDI's human resources representative but that his complaint was ignored.

Bartholomew alleges on the day of his wrongful termination, he was not given a reason for his firing and that he was told he would not be given a good reference. He claims QDI violated its own discrimination and retaliation polices as well as federal law which caused him to suffer mental anguish, loss of enjoyment of life as well as economic damages.

Bartholomew seeks monetary relief, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. He is represented by Dennis Richard of The Law Office of Dennis L. Richard in San Antonio.
