HOUSTON — A Physician practicing in Harris County is claiming defamation against a man who allegedly made false statements about him to third parties.

Steven Nguyen filed a complaint May 22 in Harris County District Court against Peter Pham alleging defamation.

Nguyen, according to his complaint, is a physician serving patients in the Asian/Vietnamese community. He claims that in May of 2022, Pham made defamatory statements "to a number of third parties" in a public place and yelled "you are a mentally unstable and incompetent doctor."

Nguyen further claims that Pham's statements were false, slanderous and damaging to his reputation and profession. Nguyen alleges Pham's actions fall under Texas law as defamation and that Pham made the statements "very loudly and very publicly published the false statements to every person in the immediate vicinity."

He also alleges he suffered mental anguish due to Pham's statements.

Nguyen seeks a retraction from Pham as well as monetary relief, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. He is represented by Tammy Tran of The Tammy Tran Law Firm LLP in Houston and R. Jack Cagle of Cagle & Associates in Rosanky.
