Homeowner alleges contractor he paid more than $6,000 upfront failed to complete work

GALVESTON — A homeowner alleges a contractor he paid more than $6,000 failed to complete the work and abandoned the job. 

Chad Starr filed a complaint May 23 in Galveston County District Court against Remodern Outdoor Living LLC alleging breach of contract. 

According to their complaint, Starr hired Remodern to install an outdoor cabinet, utilities, a stainless-steel door and feature wall at his property in League City for a cost of $8,645. He claims he gave Remodern a 50% deposit for $4,322.50 on Nov. 9, 2022, and a $1,901.90 payment on Nov. 19, 2022. 

Starr alleges that despite receiving his money, Starr has not completed the work and abandoned the job. He claims Remodern is in breach of their contract and that they accepted his money but refused to peform any work which caused him to lose $6,224.40. 

Starr seeks monetary relief of $250,000 or less, interest and all other just relief. He is represented by Kyle Dickson and Philip Nolen of Murray Lobb PLLC in Houston.
