HOUSTON — A tenant is alleging negligence after suffering a slip and fall at her apartment complex in Houston.
Marquita Hollman filed a complaint May 16 in Harris County District Court against Steeples Apartments LP and others alleging negligence.
Hollman, according to her complaint, was a tenant at the defendant's property. She claims that on Sept. 8, 2022, while at the property, she fell on a slippery substance and suffered serious injuries. Hollman alleges the defendants created the unreasonable dangerous condition and negligently permitted the hazard to exist.
She further alleges the condition existed for such a period of time that the defendants or their agents would have noticed and corrected the hazard. Hollman claims the defendants were negligent for failing to maintain the area, failing to have adequate lighting in the area and for not giving a warning. She also claims the defendants did not properly train their employees on keeping the premises safe or implement proper polices to make the premises reasonably safe. Hollman claims she suffered impairment, lost earnings and incurred medical treatment expenses as a result of her fall.
Hollman seeks monetary relief of less than $1 million, interest and all other just relief. She is represented by James Lassiter, III and Timothy McHale and Mohammed Nabulsi of The Lassiter Law Firm in Houston.
