ORANGE - The mother of Brenton Vaughan, who lost his life in an 18-wheeler crash, has filed a wrongful death suit against Tradex Logistics.
Amberly Vaughan filed the suit on Aug. 28 in Orange County, also naming Jose Caloca as a defendant.
According to the lawsuit, Brenton Vaughan was only 30 years old when he died from a fatal 18-wheeler crash on Saturday, July 29, 2023, in Orange County.
Brenton Vaughan was traveling on state Highway 62 in his correct lane when suddenly, and without warning, an 18-wheeler driven by Caloca, who was within the course and scope of his employment with Tradex, pulled out from a Pilot Travel Center causing Brenton Vaughan to travel underneath the semi-trailer, the suit states.
“As a result of this collision, Brenton Vaughan suffered injuries of such a nature and magnitude to cause his wrongful and untimely death,” the suit states. “This crash, and his wrongful death, was brought about to occur and was proximately caused by the negligence of these Defendants.”
The plaintiff is seeking more than $1 million in damages and is represented by Cody Dishon and Cullen McDonald, attorneys for The Ferguson Law Firm in Beaumont.
