Waitress sues IHOP after slipping on water

HOUSTON - A slip and fall lawsuit seeking up to $1 million in damages has been brought against IHOP Restaurants. 

Loretta Childress filed her suit on Feb. 14 in Harris County District Court. 

According to her lawsuit, on Dec. 2, 2023, Childress was working as a waitress at IHOP. She was walking to pick up an order to bring to a table when she slipped and fell on water that was on the floor. 

The suit alleges the defendant negligently failed to provide a safe work environment and failed to warn her of the dangerous condition. 

The plaintiff is suing for her medical expenses, mental anguish, impairment, lost earnings and disfigurement.
