HOUSTON - A lawsuit seeking more than $1 million in damages is alleging a woman was forced to exit through a second-story window because the Airbnb she was staying at caught fire.

Alleging negligence, Tiyomecho Clinton filed suit against David Plowden on April 1 in Harris County District Court.

According to the lawsuit, on Aug. 27, 2023, Clinton was staying at an Airbnb property owned by Plowden and was upstairs when she smelled smoke and had no choice but to climb out the window to escape the inferno.

The suit states that Clinton hung from the windowsill until she fell and injured her left leg and ankle.

Plowden is accused of failing to maintain the property to prevent the fire.

Clinton is represented by attorney M. Kevin Queenan of the Queenan Law Firm.
