City of Houston sues Juan Lopez for automobile collision damages

The City of Houston has filed a lawsuit against Juan Lopez in the County Civil Court at Law Number 4 of Harris County, Texas. The case, bearing the ID 1220099, was filed on April 11, 2024. The plaintiff is seeking monetary relief of $250,000 for damages incurred from an automobile collision.

On October 3, 2022, defendant Juan Lopez allegedly caused an accident while driving a City of Houston Fleet vehicle. He failed to maintain a single lane and collided with another city vehicle driven by Brandon Dimas, resulting in property damage and injuries to Mr. Dimas.

The city alleges that Lopez's negligence led to the accident. At the time of the incident, Lopez was employed as a contract worker by A-1 Personnel and was operating the city's vehicle within his scope of employment.

The City of Houston is bringing this action under the doctrine of negligence for recovery of damages arising from Lopez's actions. It seeks compensation for property damage to its vehicle and medical expenses incurred by Brandon Dimas due to injuries sustained in the collision.
