Dyllan Taxman Joins the Baylor Law Faculty

Dyllan Taxman will join the Baylor Law full-time faculty as an Assistant Professor of Law effective August 1, 2024.  Professor Taxman will teach classes focused on Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure.  

His scholarship focuses on criminal and international law.  Professor Taxman writes about Fourth Amendment issues and international law’s impact on American courts.  His work has appeared in the Louisiana Law Review, Memphis Law Review, Notre Dame Law Review Reflection, and other law journals.  

Prior to teaching, Professor Taxman was a Lieutenant in the Navy Judge Advocate General’s Corps (JAG Corps).  His active duty tours included serving as a military prosecutor, command legal advisor, and civil legal assistance attorney. He also served as a Special Assistant United States Attorney in the Western District of Tennessee, prosecuting misdemeanor and felony cases in the greater Memphis area.

Professor Taxman received his B.A. in English Literature and Philosophy from the University of Wisconsin. He then attended Georgetown Law in the evenings while employed at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces, graduating magna cum laude and Order of the Coif.  Between law school and the Navy, Professor Taxman clerked for the Honorable Ralph R. Erickson of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit.

Professor Taxman and his wife (Katlyn) come to Waco with their golden retriever (Sugaree) in tow.  The Taxmans enjoy exploring parks and walking trails, as well as meandering around farmers' markets.
