A Harris County resident has filed a lawsuit against her apartment complex, alleging negligence that led to serious bodily injuries. Ziashia Richardson filed the complaint in the District Court of Harris County, Texas, on September 18, 2024, against Meadow Chase Condominium Association, Inc., and Meadow Chase Condos.

According to the court documents, Richardson claims that on March 17, 2023, she tripped on a damaged step while going to get coffee with her son. She asserts that this incident resulted in significant pain and injuries to her knees. Richardson alleges that she had previously reported various issues around the stairs to the apartment complex management but received no satisfactory response or action. "Plaintiff is sustaining serious bodily injuries caused by the apartment complex’s negligence," states the petition.

The plaintiff's first cause of action is premises liability. Richardson argues that Meadow Chase Condominium Association failed in its duty of care by not maintaining safe conditions within the complex. The lawsuit states: "Defendant breached the duty of ordinary care by failing to maintain safe the apartment complex by incorrectly placing signs or fixing the damage." This breach allegedly led directly to Richardson's fall and subsequent injuries.

In addition to premises liability, Richardson also accuses Meadow Chase Condos of negligent activity. She contends that ongoing negligent activities at the complex contributed to her accident. "On the occasion in question, Defendant, their agents, servants, and employees... were guilty of negligence toward Plaintiff by committing certain acts and omissions," reads another section of the filing.

Richardson is seeking monetary relief between $40,000 and $70,000 for medical expenses incurred due to her injuries and anticipates future medical costs as well. She requests a jury trial and aims for compensation covering physical pain experienced both past and future, physical impairment, medical expenses already incurred as well as those anticipated in future treatments.

Representing Ziashia Richardson is attorney Antonio Olvera from Pusch & Nguyen Law Firm PLLC. The case has been assigned Case ID 2024-61312 under Judge Marilyn Burgess in Harris County District Court.
