Antoinette Ransom has filed a lawsuit that could have significant implications for workplace safety standards. On March 21, 2025, Ransom lodged her complaint in the District Court of Harris County, Texas, targeting Wall Street Almeda, LLC and Oral Janice, also known as Orel Janice doing business as Air Flow Services Inc., as defendants.
The lawsuit arises from an incident on January 11, 2024, when Ransom was working at Wall Street Almeda's premises in Houston. During this time, Air Flow Services was conducting HVAC-related work in the building's attic. Allegedly due to negligence by Air Flow Services' workers, a hammer fell through the ceiling and struck Ransom on the head. The plaintiff asserts that there were no warning signs or safety measures in place to prevent such accidents and claims she received no prior notice of hazardous work occurring above her. As a result of this incident, Ransom suffered severe injuries necessitating medical treatment and continues to endure pain and financial losses.
Ransom accuses Wall Street Almeda of failing to provide a safe working environment by not recognizing hazards or implementing necessary precautions during maintenance activities. She further alleges that the company did not subscribe to workers’ compensation insurance as required by Texas law. This omission removes common law defenses typically available to employers under such circumstances. Additionally, Ransom charges Air Flow Services with negligence for not securing tools properly or ensuring adequate safety measures during their work.
In her petition, Ransom seeks over $1 million in damages for physical injuries, emotional distress, lost wages, and other related costs. She also requests pre-judgment and post-judgment interest at the highest rate allowed by law and recovery of court costs incurred throughout the litigation process.
Representing Antoinette Ransom are attorneys Troy J. Pradia and Jonathan H. Cox from The Cox Pradia Law Firm PLLC. The case is presided over by Judge Rhonda Momon in the 270th District Court under Case ID 2025-19218.
