A recent lawsuit has been filed against a local medical spa, alleging severe negligence and misconduct leading to significant personal injury. Tessa Coleman initiated the complaint on October 14, 2024, in Harris County District Court against Florecita Maricela Gonzalez, operating as "The Spa Associate, LLC," and Priscilla Arce.

According to the petition, Tessa Coleman claims that the defendants operated a medical spa in Bellaire, Texas without adhering to required legal standards. The spa allegedly offered advanced treatments such as laser hair removal and skin rejuvenation without proper oversight from a licensed physician, which is mandated by Chapter 702 of the Texas Occupations Code. Coleman asserts that during her visit to the facility, she suffered extensive burns due to what she describes as "collective negligence" by the defendants. She accuses them of failing to train staff adequately, not warning clients of known risks, and ignoring fundamental safety protocols for laser treatments.

Coleman’s lawsuit details various forms of negligence including inadequate employee training and supervision, improper maintenance of medical equipment, and failure to follow recognized techniques for skin treatment. Furthermore, it highlights that The Spa Associate did not have a medical director to oversee procedures requiring such supervision under Texas law. This lack of compliance with state regulations forms a central pillar of Coleman's case against Gonzalez and Arce.

The plaintiff seeks over $1 million in damages for her injuries which include physical pain, mental anguish, disfigurement, loss of earning capacity, and both past and future medical expenses. Additionally, Coleman is pursuing exemplary damages due to what she alleges is gross negligence by the defendants—arguing their actions posed an extreme risk which they proceeded with despite being aware of potential harm.

Representing Tessa Coleman is attorney William R. Moye from Moye Law Firm PLLC. The case is presided over by Judge Kenrylone Asbeny in the 11th Judicial District Court under Case ID 2024-71079.
