A slip-and-fall incident at a grocery store has led to a lawsuit filed by a Harris County resident, who claims the store's negligence resulted in serious injuries. Annette Andrade Reyna lodged the complaint against Lewis Food Town, Inc., and "Food Town" in the District Court of Harris County, Texas, on December 20, 2024.
According to the petition, Reyna alleges that on December 23, 2022, she suffered significant bodily harm after slipping on an over-waxed floor at Food Town located at 3322 Center St., Deer Park. The plaintiff asserts that the defendants were negligent in maintaining their premises safely for customers. She claims that the defendants failed to inspect and remedy hazardous conditions and did not adequately warn patrons about potential dangers. The petition states: "Defendants negligently allowed [the condition] to persist without correcting it or adequately warning the public." Reyna argues that these oversights directly caused her injuries.
Reyna is seeking monetary compensation ranging from $250,000 to $1 million for damages including past and future physical pain, mental anguish, loss of earnings, medical expenses, and physical impairment. She contends that her injuries were solely due to the defendants' negligence and not because of any action or inaction on her part. Furthermore, she requests a jury trial to resolve this matter.
Representing Reyna is attorney Richard Jason Nava from Bellaire-based Nava Law Group. The case is being overseen by Judge Alexis Burks in the 80th Judicial District Court under Case ID 2024-88308.
