A serious incident involving alleged negligence has sparked a legal battle in Harris County, Texas. On April 16, 2025, Norma Vazquez filed a complaint against Patton Building Materials, LLC in the District Court of Harris County. The lawsuit stems from an accident that occurred on March 17, 2025, at the defendant's premises located at 4116 Siegel Street, Houston, Texas.
According to the court documents, Vazquez was injured when an employee of Patton Building Materials was operating a forklift carrying unstrapped plywood on its overhead guard. This dangerous practice led to the plywood being dislodged by a gust of wind and striking Vazquez on the back of her head. The plaintiff claims she experienced dizziness and nearly fainted due to the impact but managed to prevent herself from falling by holding onto nearby objects. Vazquez argues that she had no knowledge of this hazardous condition and could not have reasonably discovered it herself.
The lawsuit accuses Patton Building Materials of negligence for failing to ensure safe practices concerning forklift operations and for not properly training their employees. Specifically, Vazquez alleges that the company did not comply with safety measures related to forklifts, failed to secure plywood properly, and neglected to train employees adequately on safety protocols. Furthermore, she asserts that these failures were proximate causes of her injuries.
Vazquez is seeking monetary relief ranging from $250,000 to $1 million for her injuries and damages incurred as a result of the incident. She demands compensation for past and future medical expenses, physical pain and suffering, loss of earnings and earning capacity, as well as mental anguish both in the past and future.
Representing Norma Vazquez is attorney Moises Morales II from Moises Morales Law Firm based in Houston. The case is identified under Case ID 2025-26879 and will be heard in Harris County's District Court by Judge Osan Williams.
