In a gripping legal confrontation, a former employee has taken her grievances to court, accusing her previous employer of negligence that led to severe personal injuries. On February 6, 2025, Yametria Byrd filed a complaint in the Harris County District Court against Magnolia NH, LLC, operating as The Rehab Suites at Magnolia Crossing.
The case revolves around an incident where Byrd, while employed by Magnolia NH, LLC, sustained bodily injuries due to what she claims was the company's failure to provide a safe working environment. The plaintiff asserts that the defendant lacked workers' compensation insurance, classifying this as a non-subscriber case under Texas law. Byrd's petition accuses Magnolia NH of multiple acts of negligence including failing to provide proper safety equipment and adequate staff for patient care. She contends that these oversights directly resulted in her suffering from significant physical pain and mental anguish.
Byrd's lawsuit seeks compensation for various damages such as past and future disfigurement, physical pain and suffering, loss of earning capacity, and medical expenses. Additionally, she is pursuing exemplary damages and reimbursement for court costs. The total claim amount is stated to be less than $250,000 but will ultimately be determined by a jury.
Representing Byrd is attorney Rick Molina from Houston-based law firm Molina Law Firm. The case has been assigned Case ID 2025-08418 in the 234th Judicial District Court of Harris County with Judge Marilyn Burgess presiding over the proceedings.
