Blanca Margarita Perez, a Texas resident, has filed a lawsuit against Marriott International, Inc., Marriott International Administrative Services, Inc., and Houston Convention Center Hotel, LLC. The complaint was lodged in the District Court of Harris County on April 11, 2025. The case arises from an incident that occurred on August 24, 2023, when Perez tripped over a broken tile at the entrance of a hotel located at 1777 Walker Street in Houston while attending a conference. This unfortunate event led to injuries for which she is now seeking compensation.

According to the details outlined in the petition, Perez accuses the defendants of negligence and premises liability. She claims that the defendants failed to maintain safe conditions at their premises by not addressing or warning about the hazardous broken tile that caused her fall. The plaintiff asserts that there were no visible signs or warnings about the dangerous condition at the hotel entrance. As per Texas law, Perez was considered an "invitee," meaning she was owed a duty of care by the property owners to ensure her safety while on their premises.

The lawsuit highlights several specific allegations against each defendant. Marriott International and its administrative services branch are accused of failing to inspect their premises adequately and neglecting to provide necessary warnings about potential dangers. Similarly, Houston Convention Center Hotel is charged with not maintaining a safe environment and failing to address known hazards promptly. These acts and omissions are claimed to have directly contributed to Perez's injuries.

Perez seeks damages exceeding $1 million for medical expenses incurred and anticipated future costs related to her injuries. She also requests compensation for physical pain, mental anguish, physical impairment, disfigurement experienced both in the past and expected in the future due to this incident. Furthermore, she demands pre-judgment interest as allowed by Texas law along with court costs.

Representing Blanca Margarita Perez are attorneys from Maltos Law Firm PLLC based in San Antonio: L.C. Maltos (State Bar No. 24050985), Carmen M. Hinojosa (State Bar No. 24137478), and Diego J.
