The event begins at the Crockett Street Entertainment District in downtown Beaumont, and will offer 100-mile, 53-mile, 27-mile and 16-mile tours for a registration fee of $30. The Spindletop Spin, the annual fundraiser for the Jefferson County Bar Association Foundation, was held June 7 and featured a new start/finish location.

Construction is almost complete on Beaumont's new Town Lake Centre and is set for opening in July. The $8.3 million facility in downtown Beaumont, at 700 Crockett Street, between Jefferson and Neches streets, includes the event center, a lake, a walking track and an open green space. It was built to replace the city's Harvest Club, which was damaged by hurricanes Rita and Ike.

Hundreds of cyclists are expected to roll out for the Spindletop Spin to benefit the Jefferson County Pro Bono Program on June 7. Last year's event, pictured, raised more than $25,000 to provide legal services to the needy. It's time again for hundreds of cyclists to take the roads, but they won't only be riding for fun and exercise but also to raise money for a program that provides free legal services to those in need.
