  The great English metaphysical poet John Donne got terrible grades in college. Often, when taking exams, he would come across a question that required a bit of thought, so he would put his quill pen down and ponder it. The proctor, seeing that he was no longer writing, would approach and ask, “Are you done?” Thinking that he was being asked to affirm his identity, he would reply, “Yes, I am.” Whereupon the proctor would take possession of his uncompleted test and dismiss him, dooming Donne to a failing mark.

  Texas AG not approving contingent contracts signed before Sept. 1 - numerous opioid contracts weren’t approved prior to HB 2826

  DALLAS – Due to a recent change in the law, the Texas Attorney General’s Office is not approving contingency fee contracts signed before Sept. 1, calling into question the future of opioid agreements that were signed but not approved before the change.

  HOUSTON – At least 103 out of the 254 counties in the state of Texas have retained counsel to represent them in opioid litigation, according to records obtained by The Record.
