A businessman brought a lawsuit against a municipality for alleged unlawful property infringement in 2014. Bill Lisle III and Smith-Lisle Holdings Ltd. of filed against the City of Plano in the Sherman Division of the Eastern District of Texas May 28, claiming property violation in 2014. The suit states that the defendant sought to deprive plaintiffs the use of their property and improperly fined them.

A Galveston County woman brought a lawsuit against a construction company for alleged breach of contract in 2015. Larisa Hodges of League City filed against BR Industrial LLC d/b/a Heathco Renovations and Heath McHenry of Friendswood in Galveston County District Court May 27, claiming negligence in a February 2015 agreement. According to the suit, Hodges’ property at 2304 Mimosa Court in League City was damaged by a leaking plumbing fixture in early 2015.

By DAVID YATES A slip and fall lawsuit brought by a local mother claiming her minor daughter was injured at a Wal-Mart store has been transferred to federal court. Beulah Reutiman, as next friend of A.M.H., a minor child, filed a lawsuit Sept. 24 in Jefferson County District Court against Wal-Mart Stores Texas, citing negligence. Court records show that on Oct. 21 a notice of filing removal was filed, stating the case had been removed to the U.S.

Doug Miller, R-New Braunfels, introduced House Bill 1492, relating to consideration of asbestos or silica trust claims in actions asserting asbestos or silica injuries.
