Two Galveston County longshoremen have sued a national fruit manufacturer and associated partners, alleging negligence of safety.
Ernest O' Mara and Eddie Suniga filed a lawsuit Jan. 7 in Galveston County District Court against: Almeria Shipping Corporation of the Cayman Islands; Del Monte Fresh Produce International Inc. of Monte Carlo; Del Monte Fresh Produce N.A. Inc.; Del Monte Fresh Produce (Texas) Inc.; Network Shipping Inc.; and Norbulk Shipping Co. of Hamilton, Bermuda.
According to the complaint, on April 30, 2013, O'Mara and Suniga were unloading pallets of fruit aboard a carrier vessel in United States territory when a cable snapped, injuring them both in the legs, knees, backs and shoulders.
The plaintiffs seek compensation for bodily injury, physical and mental suffering and impairment, loss of earning capacity, damages, fees, attorney fees, expenses and costs. They are represented by attorneys James Doyle, Michael Robbins and Kevin Green of Doyle Restrepo Harvin & Robbins in Houston.
