Financial professional alleges civil rights violation

Discrimination

A Louisiana woman has sued her former employer, alleging violation of the Civil Rights Act.

Theresa F. Hardy, of Vinton, filed a lawsuit Jan. 12 against Golden Pass LNG Terminal of Sabine in the Beaumont Division of the Eastern District of Texas.

According to the complaint, Hardy, a 65-year-old black woman, was employed by Golden Pass beginning Oct. 15, 2008, as an experienced financial analyst. A white woman, age 32, became her supervisor in June 2013, the suit states, and Hardy experienced subsequent illegal discrimination, harassment and retaliation based on race and/or age, including the denial of professional training opportunities and promotions, substantially lower pay raises than her colleagues and subordinate duties.

Hardy filed a complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission on June 17, 2013, and ultimately left her position Sept. 3, 2013, alleging perceived hostile work environment and a constructive discharge.

Hardy seeks back pay and benefits, reinstatement of front pay, compensation for distress and embarrassment, punitive fees, attorney fees, expenses and costs. She is representing herself.

Beaumont Division of the Eastern District of Texas case number: 1:15-CV-00011-MAC-KFG.
