A Jefferson County business has sued an employee and a second company for alleged breach of contract.
American Eagle Reserve, a dealer in gold, silver and platinum, filed a lawsuit Feb. 2 in Jefferson County District Court against Adam Doucette, of Groves, and United States Precious Metals of Beaumont, alleging breach of contract, fraud and harassment.
According to the suit, Doucette was employed American Eagle with the understanding he would not enter into competition with the company, a collectible coin dealer. Doucette, however, improperly shared customer information, conspired with U.S. Precious Metals to share trade secrets and slandered American Eagle Reserve, damaging its reputation and resulting in an unjust separate lawsuit against the plaintiff, the suit states.
American Eagle requests a temporary restraining order against the defendants to prevent them from contacting the plaintiff’s customers and enjoining them from slanderous remarks and a permanent injunction to protect their own interests.
American Eagle seeks punitive and exemplary damages, attorney fees, expenses and costs. It is represented by attorney Carl Parker of the Parker Law Firm in Port Arthur.
