A Houston man has brought suit against a major wireless phone service company on grounds of alleged discrimination.
Brandon James filed against T-Mobile USA, Inc., with offices in Mission, in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas on Feb. 23.
According to the suit, James, who is African-American, worked as a technical care specialist for the defendant. He claims he was paid less than employees of different racial backgrounds and that he was the victim of discrimination, harassment and retaliation.
The complaint cites racial profiling via verbal abuse, suspension of overtime privileges, placement on a disciplinary plan by his employer and, ultimately, termination on June 25, 2014. James filed a claim with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) on or about Jan. 16, 2014.
The plaintiff requests that his former employer be required to review internal procedures and attend training. He seeks compensation for actual and punitive damages, including anguish and distress, front and back pay, attorney fees, expenses and costs. He is represented by DaSean A. Jones and Don Nguyen of Jones & Associates in Houston.
