Woman sues over allegedly wrongful firing

A woman is suing her former employer for alleged discrimination and retaliation in her termination.

Guadalupe D. Garza filed a complaint May 8 in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas against Houston Distributing Co. Inc.

The plaintiff, who worked for the defendant for 26 years as an 18-wheel delivery driver, filed a charge of discrimination against the defendant with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and has filed this complaint within the required 90 days from being informed by the EEOC of his right to sue.

The plaintiff, citing age discrimination, disability discrimination, retaliation, and violations of the Family Medical Leave Act, seeks unspecified damages, compensatory damages, lost wages and employment, monetary losses, punitive and liquidated damages, attorneys' fees, pre- and post-judgment interest, and court costs.

The plaintiff is represented by attorney Anthony M. Denena in Houston.
