A tenant at Cardinal Square apartments says a protruding metal strip snagged her foot and caused her tumble down a flight of stairs and crash land on a slab of cement.
Evonne Davis has filed a personal-injury lawsuit against Virtu Oakdale Cardinal Associates, claiming the property manager negligently failed to inspect and maintain its premise.
Davis is suing for past and future pain, mental anguish, disability, medical expenses and loss of household services and enjoyment of life.

Tom Jordan claims Baja Marine Corp. sold him a bum boat and has filed a Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act against the company.
He is suing for actual damages and all court costs.

Another medical-malpractice lawsuit alleging that the Pine Forest Nursing and Rehabilitation Center failed to supervise patients and allowed them to fall has been filed against the care provider. James Jennis, representative of the estate of Inez Jennis, claims Pine Forest physicians and staff hastened Jennis' death by allowing her to repeatedly fall.
This is the second suit of its kind against Pine Forest in a week.
As reported by the Record, Onita L. Bennett, representative of the estate of Elwood H. Bennett, filed a medical malpractice suit against Pine Forest Nursing in Jefferson County District Court on Nov. 26.

Longing to make a good impression with her new nursing classmates, Marcia Kerr asked her dentist to give her a dental overhaul. However, she claims Dr. Roland Williams' shoddy work left her with a mouth full of ruined teeth.
Kerr has filed suit against Williams, claiming the dentist failed to "meet reasonably prudent standards of dental care."
Kerr is suing for actual and exemplary damages, plus past and future medical expenses, disfigurement, mental anguish and loss of earning capacity and enjoyment of life.

A former tenant living at Port Arthur Town Homes claims her floor collapsed, causing her to fall through the hole and injure herself.
Linda Blue has filed suit against the property company, claiming Port Arthur Town Homes failed to repair the dangerous condition.
Blue is suing for exemplary damages, plus past and future medical expenses, physical pain, impairment, disfigurement, lost wages and mental anguish.
