Holiday Inn Park Central in Port Arthur
According to a new suit filed in Jefferson County, Holiday Inn is negligent for allowing people to walk around in its lobby and should have warned plaintiff Sandra Strother of the "dangerous condition" before she entered the hotel.
Strother filed suit against Pat Hotel Corp. (Holiday Inn) on March 20 in the Jefferson County District Court. Strother is a resident of the state of Montana.
In her suit, Strother says she was injured on Nov. 4, 2006, while on the premises of the Port Arthur Holiday Inn Park Central, located at 2929 Jimmy Johnson Blvd. Apparently, she was injured while walking across the glass flooring in the hotel's lobby area.
The suit does not say how Strother was injured.
All the suit says is Holiday Inn "knew … of the dangerous condition where patrons (such as Plaintiff) walked, i.e., glass flooring in lobby area" and was negligent for failing to warn patrons of the "dangerous condition."
Strother is suing the hotel under the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act, claiming Holiday Inn owed her a duty to keep its premises in a "good and safe condition."
She is suing for past and future medical expenses, pain, mental anguish and impairment.
Strother is demanding a trial by jury and is represented by attorney Justin Sanderson of the McPherson, Monk, Hughes, Bradley & Wimberley law firm.
Judge Donald Floyd, 172nd Judicial District, has been assigned to the case.
