This Just In: Recent civil suits filed in Orange County District Courts

  • Brandy Kieschnick vs. E.I. DuPont De Nemours and Co. et al

    The daughter of a deceased DuPont employee is suing her father's former employer and 13 other companies for maliciously inflicting him with an asbestos illness. As an alleged result of being exposed to asbestos, Walter Dunn died on June 23, 2006. Two years later, on June 24 his daughter, Brandy Kieschnick, filed suit against E.I. DuPont De Nemours and Co. and several other companies.

  • Rochelle Ware vs. Steven Jay Howell

    On July 13, 2006, the plaintiff was traveling eastbound on Green Avenue in Orange, when the defendant, traveling north on 15th Street, allegedly failed to yield the right-of-way while making a left turn and hit the plaintiff's vehicle, injuring her.

    The plaintiff is suing for past and future mental anguish, medical expenses and physical pain.

  • Stephen and Sarah Smith vs. McGrady Trucking Co. and Anthony Ramirez

    On Sept. 19, 2007, the plaintiffs were stopped in congested traffic while traveling on I-10 in Orange County when a 18-wheeler driven by Ramirez and owned by McGrady Trucking crashed into their car from behind, severely injuring husband and wife.

    The plaintiffs allege Ramirez negligently caused the wreck by failing to keep a proper lookout and control his rate of speed. They further allege McGrady Trucking was negligent for hiring Ramirez.

    The plaintiffs are suing for past and future mental anguish, medical expenses, impairment, disfigurement and lost wages.

  • Joshua Whipkey and Jason Bishop vs. TFR Enterprises and James Kersey

    PA � Sandee Hart, J � Pat Clark

    On July 2, 2006, defendant Kersey allegedly rear-ended the plaintiffs while they were stopped at a traffic signal. After hitting them, Kersey left the scene without rendering aid or providing information to police. The plaintiffs allege that Kersey was intoxicated.

    The suit further faults TFR for negligently entrusting one of its vehicles to Kersey. The plaintiffs are suing for past and future mental anguish, medical expenses, impairment, disfigurement and lost wages.
